congratulations your account is now created

January 16th, 2008 | Category: Editorial, School, Uni

After receiving my Monash “enrolment” package I decided to begin the whole enrolment process. So after creating my Novell account I began to see if I could complete the rest of the enrolment process which unfortunately it seems like I can’t until tomorrow or something like that. In other news the Year 12 magazine seems to be going at a very slow pace with very little done over the last few days, I hope we can get a bit done today and over the next week before all the staff get here.

at least the hot weather is gone (for now)

January 13th, 2008 | Category: School, Uni

Well my house is now a bearable temperature, and I must say it’s about time. There’s not a whole lot to tell you about since my last update, just been spending my time at Haileybury finishing off the Year 12 magazine (which is finally nearing completion). So after my 3 day weekend I will be heading yet again back to Haileybury for pretty much the week and will hopefully get this thing done and approved by end of January. Also uni offers come out tomorrow night (7:30pm) which shall be interesting, however I can guarantee that I wont bother to go out and buy a ’special edition’ of the paper tomorrow so I will probably find out on Tuesday, but I will keep you all ‘posted’.

a leisurely sunday lunch

January 06th, 2008 | Category: Blog, Friends, School

After a extended absence, Luke and myself decided to catch up over a quick lunch and a movie. So we headed to Southland (TGI Friday’s) and then went and saw I Am Legend. The movie was better than I expected it to be and a lot shorter which I think is a good thing. I then headed home and washed my car (something I have not done for quite a few weeks, and don’t worry only tank water was used).

Anyway tomorrow I will be hopefully beginning to finish the Year 12 magazine and finally get that out the way, as well as some other stuff that needs to be taken care of. Also as someone pointed out today, Uni offers are just over a week away (I’ll finally find out where I’m spending the next 3 years of my life)

the end of my beachside holiday

January 04th, 2008 | Category: Blog, Holidays, School, Work

Well my holiday down at Sorrento has finally ended and it marks pretty much the end of my ‘transitional’ break. I will over the next few weeks begin to get back into work mode and I will find myself down at Haileybury over the next couple of weeks finishing of the Year 12 magazine as well as some other little things. Well that’s all for now since my non air conditioned room will soon be approaching the 40 degree mark if my computer remains on, so I think I’ll go sit in front of the air conditioner for a while.

welcome 2008

January 01st, 2008 | Category: Blog, Drama, Editorial, Family, Friends, Holidays, Home, MCC, School, Shopping, Uni, VCE

Well 2007 has finally ended and what a year it has been. It amazes me just how fast 2007 went, it seems like it was only yesterday that I was recapping 2006. So here’s what happened in my life in 2007.

  • Turned 18 (probably the biggest thing to happen)
  • Subsequently went to Crown and a great time was had by all (you all know the story)
  • Got my license (again a very big thing)
  • Began, and successfully completed Year 12
  • Graduated from Haileybury.
  • Went to the Year 12 Formal
  • My Great Grandmother passed away
  • Had a fantastic year as a School Prefect and Vice Captain of Editorial
  • Bought an iPod (who’d of thought!)
  • Also bought a GPS (yeah I know it was only a couple of days ago but it was a highlight of 2007)
  • Went to the Boxing Day Test
  • Drastically improved this blog by getting a domain name, a host and moving it to the Wordpress platform
  • Went to Sydney to visit my brother and see the city (twice)
  • Went down to Phillip Island for ’schoolies’
  • Saw the school play ‘Inheritance’
  • Saw the school musical ‘Fame’
  • Saw the Castlefield musical “A High School Musical” (Luke also went to see it as he “received” tickets for his birthday)
  • Applied for University, and received my VCE results.

So that’s 2007 in review, I wish everyone a happy new year and I look forward to recapping what I hope will be a wonderful 2008.

interesting times

December 15th, 2007 | Category: Holidays, School

Well it has been an enjoyable couple of days and I’m now about halfway through my trip. An interesting development that I found out about yesterday was the appointment of the new Haileybury principal, Mr. Derek Scott. Derek (or Scotty as most people call him) has been the Head of Senior School for the last 3 years (well actually 4 ‘Haileybury’ years if you count this 4B thing). Derek began his Haileybury career at Newlands before making the transition to Senior School. I had the pleasure to ‘work’ with Derek for the last year and he has always been a great Head of Precinct. So I congratulate Scotty on his appointment and I look forward to seeing him in action.

two speech nights down

December 05th, 2007 | Category: School, Technical

Well Newlands and Edrington have had both their speech nights and they went off without a hitch. Of course the usual suspects have simply recycled their speeches and simply replaced the precinct name. Last night I had the priveledge to read out some prizes for the Edrington speech night, of course the food before hand was good with the whole plate of the ‘duck things’ being polished off by Mr. Twist and myself. So overall this week hasn’t been that exciting and tomorrow will mark the end of my official duties for the school when Derrick Ha speaks at Newlands for the last time.

back from Phillip Island

December 02nd, 2007 | Category: Friends, Holidays, Pat, School

Well I’m back from ‘the island’ and I must say I had a really good time. My days were taken up with swimming, sitting in front of the fire and basically doing not much at all. I was suprised with the amount of people from school that were down there, with two houses of Haileybury people just down the road from us. Some of the highlights were Lynton finishing of half a slab of VB for $5, Jimmy falling asleep on the road and Pat and his general hate of people.

After leaving Phillip Island yesterday I headed back to Pat’s place where I crashed the night and awoke early to head to Leadership Camp. The camp was alright and it was a good opportunity to brief some of the upcoming prefects. It also gave me an opportunity to catch up with some teachers and students alike. Of course my Haileybury days aren’t quite over yet with two more speech nights to go to this week, and then there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel.

a castlefield photoshoot

November 21st, 2007 | Category: Editorial, School

This morning I headed into our Brighton campus to take photos of the new Senior School they have there. It’s quite a nice building and certainly much better than many of the other run down Castlefield buildings. I managed to get a few good photos although the weather was against me. I was surprised to learn that only 11 boys chose to stay at Castlefield which was quite odd, especially compared to Edrington where the vast majority stayed, although I certainly think that those that made the move made the right decision as Senior School (Keysborough) is a great place to be. Watto was his usual self, cracking lame jokes and failing to wear matching pants and jacket. Now tomorrow I will be heading to our friends down in Berwick before coming back up to Senior School and after all that my marketing run will be over.

VCE is over!

November 15th, 2007 | Category: School, VCE

Today I finished my last ever VCE exam. It marks the end of 13 years of schooling and 6 years at Haileybury. It is a great feeling knowing that it is all over and that I will never have to write down that stupid VCE number again. So now it is onto weeks of partying and getting very drunk. Now I’m sitting in Aikman Hall eagerly awaiting the beginning and subsequent end of the Dance Gala, hopefully you are all doing well (or have done well) in your exams.
