april fools

April 01st, 2007 | Category: Google, Home, Internet

Today is of course April 1st and in its usual style Google has perpetrated its annual April Fools joke. Let me announce it to you “Gmail Paper”. Basically they offer to print out any emails, photos etc (but no Mp3’s) and mail it too you. I thought this joke was pretty funny and especially liked their bit about the environment

But what about the environment?

Not a problem. Gmail Paper is made out of 96% post-consumer organic soybean sputum, and thus, actually helps the environment. For every Gmail Paper we produce, the environment gets incrementally healthier.

Heres the link to the product page.

Heres another one of google’s jokes, they basically offer wireless internet down your toilet. Check out the setup instructions for a laugh.

Whirlpool also did their annual April fools joke announcing “Mandatory ISP filtering will block P2P”. It’s amazing the amount of people that fall for it, seriously as if the government would ever block P2P, it would be political suicide. Hope your all enjoying your April 1st.

google analytics

November 19th, 2006 | Category: Google, Home, School

Many people ask me how I know if they’ve been on my blog or not, the answer is simple, Google. They offer a tool called google analytics that allows me to see roughly what geographical area my visitors come from (this blog is truly global, I have visitors from Spain, France, UK, USA, Phillipines, South Africa, Brazil, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, China, Thailand, Israel, Germany, Netherlands, Mexico, Poland & Russia). It can also tell me how the visitors got to my site ie. did they type the address in, or did they do a Google search (a surprising amount of people type in Matthew Kennedy + Haileybury in Google) and there are some other pretty cool tools as well such as visitor numbers, pageviews, searches.

Also my weekend has been very boring, just catching up on heaps of school work. But I did have a swim today as it was pretty hot, and I also played some Airline Tycoon (yes I know its like ten years old but its really addictive).
