I first started my blog on the 28th July, 2006 on the Blogger service. The name xD comes from the memory card my camera uses, I chose it simply because I could think of nothing else

The first version of my blog was rather basic, utilising one of the default blogger templates. The blog grew and visitor numbers increased. In September 2006 I decided a new layout was in order. This new layout was a huge improvement over the old one, looking more modern and making many of the features of the blog more accessible.

In January 2007 this blog saw its biggest change yet, moving over to Wordpress, with a new layout and web address. The Wordpress service allowed greater customisation than ever before. Gallery, About and Profile pages added to the blog, to give users more content and making almost everything ‘inhouse’. February 2007 saw a Quotes page added, as well as a quote in the sidebar. March 2007 saw more visitors to the blog than ever before, with an increasing number of visitors coming from Google and Yahoo searches. The layout was again changed in April 2007, to reflect the growing popularity of the blog, the new layout is brighter and allows for more expansion and future changes. In June 2007 the domain www.xdmatt.com was registered to make it easier for visitors to remember the web address. In October xD was moved from Wordpress’ free service to a hosted package with MidPhase. This allows greater customization and content. Users for the first time could sign up to xD. The gallery was also revised with the inclusion of AJAX scripting which gives a more interactive experience.

The current layout I consider to be the best yet, however that doesn’t mean it will always remain the same. xD will continue to be improved and changed, keeping it fresh, yet simple.
