working, working and you guessed it, working!

Category: Work

Well you may have realised with the thread title that I have been working a lot lately. Pretty much I now am home two nights a week which means I have been surviving off take away (I have a pattern now, it goes McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Hungry Jacks, Subway, Fish and Chips), microwavable meals and whatever can be found in the freezer at 1am in the morning. I must admit I am enjoying work (especially the whole money thing), one of the reasons is because I work with some pretty cool people which is always a bonus.

Now about a month ago I posted on the new Pre Mixed Drink Tax Increase, well I’m here to say that I was wrong, I said that kids would simply move to bottles of spirits. Well they haven’t!!! Our sales of Pre Mixed drinks are almost exactly the same (in our store at least), with there being an increase in bottled spirits as well (ie. More alcohol is being sold). So congratulations Mr. Rudd, you did a fantastic job in this one.

Two things - and I’m just complaining because I can. Safeway is what as defined as mindless labour, and hence is really easy. You shoulda worked at the Good Food and WIne festival… Then you’d know what a days work feels like. I’ve been doing it for a week, have eaten at home zero times. (Ok, ok… All I want is sympathy :P).

Next up on the chopping block; while yes, sales at your store may remain in the exact same proportions, independant reserch has already shown that sales of spirits and beer have risen dramatically since the ban, and sales of pre-mixed drinks have fallen. Don’t belive me? Read the paper, it’s the only contact I have with the outside world at the moment (I currently exist in a sterile world… Damn hospitals…).

All in all, I belive we did have a discussion once about the credibility of a domain name vs. the content published… Does this prove my point or yours (or neither)?

    Hope to catch up soon.

Ha! Work do a 53 hour week while doing a full time TAFE course, then you shall know the meaning of work :)
