congratulations Mr. Rudd
Mr. Kevin Rudd will become the 26th Prime Minister of Australia. After a huge defeat at the election Prime Minister John Howard has lost his position to Labor leader Kevin Rudd. It has been a momentous day for Australian politics and it will see the Australian Labor Party returned to power for the first time since 1996. I congratulate Mr Rudd on his win and I look forward to the “new leadership” that he brings.
No comments1 day out from the election
Unless you have been living under a rock you will have no doubt been flooded with political messages over the last 6 odd weeks. We’ve had billions of dollars thrown at us and the promise of continued economic prosperity (but not low interest rates) or chance to have new leadership. I of course decided today who I was going to vote for, being a politics student I took this decision quite seriously and I weighed up who I thought was the best candidate (well actually the lesser of the two evils would be a better analogy). So tomorrow many of you will be going to the ballot box and voting for the party whom we want to run our country and I have this request of you, don’t vote the Greens!
No commentsa castlefield photoshoot
This morning I headed into our Brighton campus to take photos of the new Senior School they have there. It’s quite a nice building and certainly much better than many of the other run down Castlefield buildings. I managed to get a few good photos although the weather was against me. I was surprised to learn that only 11 boys chose to stay at Castlefield which was quite odd, especially compared to Edrington where the vast majority stayed, although I certainly think that those that made the move made the right decision as Senior School (Keysborough) is a great place to be. Watto was his usual self, cracking lame jokes and failing to wear matching pants and jacket. Now tomorrow I will be heading to our friends down in Berwick before coming back up to Senior School and after all that my marketing run will be over.
No commentsdo you want a tow truck sir?
On my way to buy a new printer and other computer goodies my car decided that it no longer liked its occupation and died. So after a call to the RACV my car was being loaded on the back of the tow truck to take to the mechanics who will look it over. The RACV guy reckons it was water leaking all over the distributer that was causing the problem so if thats the case it will be a simple fix and may mean that my head gasket is indeed fine. So without a car I have resorted to buying things on eBay which is annoying because I hate waiting for things and I absolutely hate people that charge outrageous postage (especially from the US).
No commentsVCE is over!
Today I finished my last ever VCE exam. It marks the end of 13 years of schooling and 6 years at Haileybury. It is a great feeling knowing that it is all over and that I will never have to write down that stupid VCE number again. So now it is onto weeks of partying and getting very drunk. Now I’m sitting in Aikman Hall eagerly awaiting the beginning and subsequent end of the Dance Gala, hopefully you are all doing well (or have done well) in your exams.
No commentsno more maths ever!
That’s right, today was my last ever Maths exam. I didn’t do as well as I hoped but that doesn’t really bother me as I plan on maths being my 7th subject. I also had my Sociology exam today which went way better than I expected, so I’m hoping that I get a score above 40 for it (plus if I get above 40 in either english or national politics without getting below 35 for the other one then I will get the score I’m aiming for). It’s great knowing that my next exam is over a week away ands its in my best subject (academically that is). Anyway I’m really glad to get today over (I remember seeing in June that I had two exams in one day and I was quite annoyed) and now it’s onto National Politics. PS. Did I mention that I don’t ever have maths again!
No comments1 down 3 to go
Today was the fantastic VCE English exam. It went pretty well although there was one glaring error on the VCE Exam. On the top corner instead of saying English 2007, it said 2006 meaning some one made a stuff up. It amazes me how something that should have gone through countless proof reading and draft could have such an error. In other news tonight is the Sports Presentation Night, thankfully my services aren’t required. In other news today we (ie. the prefects 2007) gave Mr. Scott his gift, he was very happy with it which I was happy with as it wasn’t the easiest thing to organise (take the usual amount of Haileybury paperwork, then double it). Anyway now back to Maths study.
