a northern adventure

June 30th, 2007 | Category: Holidays

Today I headed up to Manly on the Ferry. I must say I like Sydney’s ferry system and I believe Melbourne should adapt one, I mean just imagine Melbourne to Frankston for example via ferry. Unfortunately we all know that it will never happen as the only reason that Sydney have ferries is due to a lack of a land based alternative. Luke will be very pleased to read that last night I got pretty smashed at Club 209 and didn’t end up getting home till dawn (I then got up at 9:30am to go to Manly). Tomorrow is my last full day in this wonderful city on the harbour and then it’s back to good ol’ dreary Melbourne.

a day of sightseeing

June 29th, 2007 | Category: Holidays

Today I did the real touristy thing and went to the top of Sydney Tower. I must say the view was worth the $24 admission (yes that’s right $24) . I managed to get a lot of photos all though most of them were ruined by the reflections in the glass (my camera managed to get rid of a lot of it but not all). I ended up spending about an hour at the top and had a cup of coffee while I was there. I then made my way back down to the ground and walked to the Opera House via the Botanical Gardens. Unfortunately when I got there my camera had run out of batteries and I had to buy a 4 pack of Lithium batteries from the convenience store there and lets just say that the cost was more than the admission to Sydney Tower.

Anyway the weather was really good today with clear skies and it was actually warm enough to wear a T-Shirt, the good thing is that it’s expected to stay like this for the next week meaning that my last few days in Sydney will be blue sky and sun.

a week in sydney

June 28th, 2007 | Category: Holidays

image009.jpgimage009.jpgimage009.jpgWell I’m currently in the Sydney CBD at Travellers Contact Point writing this. Sorry it’s taken me so long to post but it hasn’t really been high on the priority list. All in all it’s been pretty good so far, however the weather hasn’t been great (better than Melbourne I hear). Yesterday I walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge which was pretty cool, I managed to get some pretty cool photos of the bridge and the Opera House which I’ll post when I get home. One thing I have noticed up here is the complexity of their public transport system, but I think I’ve mastered it (sort of). I also went to Bondi Beach today and then made my way back through Kings Cross which was interesting to say the least. Tomorrow I will be going to the Opera House and going to the top of Sydney Tower to try and get some cool photos & yes Luke I may even visit the Casino, but I’ll try not to have the same impact on Star City as I did on Crown.

the holidays begin

June 24th, 2007 | Category: Holidays, School

The end of term has finally reached us and all I can say is thank god for that. I’m leaving for Sydney tomorrow which should be fun and I’ll be up there for a week. I’ll try and find time to get onto the internet and keep you updated but I can’t make you any promises. However if I can figure out how to post via my phone then I’ll be able to post anytime I want.

Also my end of term assembly speech at Newlands was good, although there was a rather humorous moment afterwards when I was thanked by a member of staff. Overall everything went well except at Edrington, and that was because the taxi never showed up for George (despite numerous phone calls).

our night at crown

June 17th, 2007 | Category: Family

Well last night was an interesting one, though all the interesting bits are the ones I don’t remember and I’ve had to rely on Pat and Luke to tell me. Firstly we went out for dinner at the Waterfront at Southbank, which was nice. I ended up having Salmon which was good, and my uncle ended up picking up the tab which was good as it meant more money to gamble for my parents. After that we went for a walk outside to try and get me to sober up enough to be able to get in the casino. I did end up getting in although the guy at the door told me to watch myself as I was probably a little too drunk. So I ended up on the pokies where I ended up coming out $7 ahead which was good and then I threw up in the foyer of Crown (too the disgust of the security guards). I cannot remember a thing after that but apparently we went back to the hotel room and I passed out on the bed. Everyone had a good time (except the cleaners) which is the main thing, though my parents lost like $300 at the casino and my brother ended up losing about $200. All in all it was a very enjoyable night and look forward to visiting Crown again.

luke’s very musical birthday

June 15th, 2007 | Category: Drama, School, Shopping

Today is Luke’s 18th Birthday which was exciting for him. To celebrate we went to Castlefield’s musical “High School Musical”, anyway a riveting time was had by all especially Bosko who at the end announced that he hated me for forcing him to go. I ended up spending most of the day at Southland which was not really that exciting as I was looking for a birthday present for Luke (and got sidetracked by the food court), in the end I ended up getting him an iTunes voucher as its the only thing he’ll actually use. So all in all Castlefield was relatively exciting and was a swell way to spend Luke’s birthday.

your application has been approved

June 14th, 2007 | Category: Home, School

The ANZ finally approved my application for a Visa Debit Card so I will soon be making purchases with it (and without the debt as well!). I also has a driving lesson with my driving instructor today and I’ve now perfected the art of the three point turn and reverse parking, I’m fairly confident for my driving test which is in August sometime.

Today was the ever exciting GAT which I finished after about an hour and a half. Tomorrow I have to head into school before making my way to Castlefield for a matinee performance of “High School Musical”, at least it will be something different.

welcome to xdmatt.com

Yes that’s right, I finally have a real domain name. Luke was the one that funded my little adventure into the world of domain names. I will in the near future register a couple of other domain names but for now I just have this little baby. In other news today I had no school as it’s exam week, however tomorrow I have the wonderful GAT which is always exciting. Then on Friday I will be down at Castelfield for their musical and then Saturday will be having dinner at Southbank and then heading to Crown.

the end of the long weekend

June 11th, 2007 | Category: Friends, Home, School

That’s it for the long weekend, and we wont be getting any until November which is a bit of a shame but hey, we get school holidays. I have been one of those fortunate people that don’t have mid-year exams this week so its a relatively cruisy week for me. One thing I do have this week is my english oral which I’m doing on the Iraq War so I’m sitting here having a beer (Stella Artois) and adding the finishing touches to the Power Point presentation. However I seem to have been sidetracked an am now talking to Derrick Ha on MSN, but hell it’s only VCE.

a very nice evening

June 10th, 2007 | Category: Family, Friends, Home

Tonight we headed to a very nice Indian restaurant with family friends. We don’t see them a whole lot because they live in Nar Nar Goon so it was very nice to catch up with them. Anyway Indian cuisine is a personal favourite of mine and I recommend those of you who have never tried it to go out an try it. I also got the HDMI cable for my DVD player so I can now watch DVD’s in HD, because Samsung had forgotten to put one with my DVD player so I had to go back to the store and they ordered it in. That’s all for now, I’m about to sit down and watch Blood Diamond which I was meant to see at the movies but other things came up and now am going to watch it at home on DVD.
